In a qualitative initiative with the aim of continuous improvement and sustainable development, BQA is forming an international advisory committee

The Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA) has announced the establishment of an international advisory committee on the quality of education and training. The committee will provide technical and scientific advice to the BQA on its operations to promote the sustainable improvement of education and training institutions across the Kingdom of Bahrain. The committee's membership includes international advisers specializing in the quality of education and training, qualification frameworks and national examinations.

 

Dr. Tariq Al-Sindi, the BQA CE, announced that the committee shall be composed of five leading international advisors in the areas of quality, qualification frameworks and national examinations; namely, Ms. Eileen Ponton, Chief Executive Officer of the SCQF Partnership, Professor Ian Cumbus, Member of the Royal Society of Biology (MRSB), Mr. Christopher Green, Executive Director of Education Leadership, Management and Improvement at GES Word Ltd: England, Dr. Stylianos Mavromoustakos, Director of the Foundation for the Management of European Lifelong Learning Programmes and Director of Development at EDEX – Educational Excellence Corporation, Nicosia (Cyprus) and Mr. Dan Bray, the assessment expert who has held a series of senior posts in the Cambridge University Press and Assessment (CUPA) relating to the assessment and various education projects.

 

In this regard, Dr. Al-Sindi pointed out that the role of committee's international advisors will focus on providing advice and exchanging experiences and expertise in the field of quality education and training. They will also provide advice on the scientific and technical levels to the Authority.

 

The BQA CE also stated that international advisors will contribute to the study and development of new projects and initiatives to be put forward by the Authority in line with international practices, standards, and the latest developments related to strategies and plans for the improvement of education and training, the quality of education, qualifications framework and national examinations with a view to supporting the benchmark of the BQA practices with its regional and international counterparts.​
