The DPS is responsible for reviewing, monitoring and reporting on students’ achievement and the quality of the teaching and learning in private schools and kindergartens according to the best international practices, and provide objective reports on the identified strengths and areas for improvement. The main objective of the DPS is to help private schools and kindergartens to improve, by providing concise external and impartial reviews.
The review process focusses on the students’ standards and achievement, their personal development, the quality of provision, and the leadership and management. DPS also establishes success criteria and spreads best practices.
DPS has completed the first cycle of reviewing all private schools, which started in 2011 and finished in December 2014. The second cycle of reviews started in April 2015 by the end of which all private schools in Bahrain would have had two review visits. The Directorate emphasizes in the conduct of all its procedures the principals of professionalism, fairness, integrity, transparency, consistency, credibility and sustainability.
