Dr Maryam Hasan Mustafa, CEO of the Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA), emphasised BQA’s commitment to advancing the General Policies of the National Qualifications Framework in line with the enhanced approach adopted by BQA. The decision supports national priorities in education and training and contributes to strengthening academic programme quality assurance processes, while reinforcing the effectiveness of internal quality assurance systems within higher education institutions.
Decision No. (7) of 2026 approving the General Policies of the National Qualifications Framework aligns with the objectives of BQA’s Strategic Plan 2023–2026. As part of this development, BQA has integrated the programme review approach with the National Qualifications Framework processes, in accordance with international best practice, contributing to enhanced academic outcomes and the long-term sustainability of higher education in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The updated policies were developed in coordination with strategic partners and in consultation with higher education institutions across the Kingdom. Institutions will be briefed on the revised mechanisms to ensure aligned and effective implementation that supports quality enhancement and strengthens academic outcomes.
